~ ABOUT ~

Welcome to Heartwood Healing

Heartwood Healing is a new private practice in Zionsville, Indiana, that centers on balance, warmth, the experience of being human, collaborative care, and community connection.

There is something both profoundly humbling and deeply healing about acknowledging both the beauty and struggle of the human experience. My goal is to meet you here first and walk beside you as you discover, heal, and gain better control of life's chaos.

My hope is to be your partner, helping you navigate life's transitions and recognize your inner strength, much like the heartwood of a tree.

Provider Background Info

Who Is Sarah?

My path to becoming a therapist was through the weaving of professional and personal experiences and interests: being a mother, a teacher, a social worker, a parenting partner, a resiliency coach, a sister, an aunt, a creative, a nature lover, and even, what feels like a lifetime ago, a theater performer. I have worked in schools, group practice, community mental health, and substance use. I have worked with children as both a teacher, resiliency coach, and therapist, and walked beside parents as they navigate incredibly difficult choices and experiences. I have personally experienced birth trauma, divorce, parenthood, and many of life's ups and downs. All of this has informed and shaped my intervention approach and allows me to provide creative but well informed, person centered, clinically sound intervention.

I received my MSW from Indiana University and as a native New Englander, received an MEd. from Antioch University New England. Before becoming a social worker, I was an educator for many years, am a mom to a preschooler, and have a sweet old dog named, Tig.
